Sarasota’s Barrier Islands
From downtown follow Gulf Stream Avenue over the Ringling Bridge
to luxurious Bird Key, once home to Lucille Ball. A couple of
minutes further west is St. Armands Key with
St. Armands Circle of
boutiques, galleries and cafés. Two blocks west a small bridge
transports you to Lido Key, Lido Beach and the sparkling Gulf of
Mexico. Turn north over the New Pass Bridge and Longboat Key
Welcomes You.
Bird Key. An exclusive, small island, neighborhood of slightly more
than 500 single-family homes, many new bay front estates with city
views and luxury homes on deep-water canals.
The Bird Key Yacht Club
anchors the community with its fine dining, tennis and extraordinary
boating.
Jewfish Key (La Lenaire Isle). Accessible only by small boat,
this exclusive paradise features 38-acres and reserves 17-acres as
nature preserve.
Lido Key.
Immediately west of Bird and St. Armands Keys,
Lido Key features world famous Lido Beach. Condos, hotels and
beach
clubs are clustered along the key’s southern beachfront, with modern
residential Lido Shores to the north and all within walking distance
of St. Armands Circle.
Longboat Key. Manicured, magnificent Longboat Key extends north from
the Bird, St. Armands, Lido Key archipelago. The southern end
is characterized by condos along the beach and single family homes
on the canals and bayfront. North Longboat has more single-family
homes on the Gulf, Beach to Bay resorts and home to
Euphemia Haye.
St. Armands. St. Armands Key is only 130-acres of private
residences, canal homes and luxury estates radiating from the
central St. Armands Circle of 150 boutiques, shops and cafés.
Sarasota County has other barrier islands south of downtown. Sarasota. If you wish to tour properties on these other keys we
would be pleased to refer you to an expert in this area.
Bradenton’s Barrier Island
Anna Maria Island. The three towns on this island share a sandals
and champagne lifestyle. They are barefoot beach towns, encircled in
sugar sand and bathed in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This
is a luxurious but casual tropical island in the Gulf of Mexico, one
that lives on "Island Time."
Anna Maria. The northernmost, small town, located where the island
forms the southern mouth of Tampa Bay. Anna Maria is predominately
cottages, homes and estates on the Gulf of Mexico, canal-front and
sleepy inland lanes with neighbors sharing the joy of place. Try
Rotten Ralph’s.
Holmes
Beach.
The
larger, central town, on the island offers a balance of fine vs.
funky.
Beach Bistro vs.
Duffy’s Tavern...beachfront estates
vs. historical cottages. It’s the commercial center of souvenir,
grocery, hardware, drug stores, motels and condos.
Bradenton Beach. The narrow, southernmost tip,
is comprised of mostly
condominiums. Historic
Bridge Street pier, shops and pubs, Coquina Beach, with bridges to
mainland and Longboat Key. Don’t miss
Mr. Bones BBQ.
